OMG guys! Did you see that? I think Santa’s been and he left some pressies!! (click on pictures to enlarge)
Merry Christmas Guys!!!
Hey, it was great to see so many of you at the Christmas Drink and Draw on Sunday night!
For those of you who couldn’t make it, we were mostly drawing Bad Santas – the Father Christmasses of your nightmares. As you can imagine that got pretty dark pretty fast, but here are a few of the more publishable ones:
We also had a comic going around the table, with everybody taking a turn to do half a page – the result is magnificent! But, uhh… this is a family friendly blog and the language is kind of colourful so I’m not going to publish the whole thing. Here are the first two pages though:
If you want a printed copy let me know and I’ll try to bring it along to the next meet-up!
The deadline for the ELC Secret Santa drawing exchange is upon us today – hope you’re all as excited as I am to see the results. They’ll be going up on the blog soon, so watch this space!
We’re holding a Christmas themed Drink and Draw night this Sunday!
You’ll find us in The Southern (22-26 South Clerk Street) from 7pm on the 21st.
Knock up some last minute Christmas cards for your folks, work on whatever it is you’re working on at the moment, or just draw anything else you like! There’ll be a couple of activities to get you started as well, but please bring your own materials!
Christmas Drink and Draw Facebook Event here
If you haven’t done so already, this is also your LAST CHANCE to sign up for our ELC Secret Santa drawing exchange! Everyone who’s signed up will have their recipient randomly assigned to them shortly, so you can spend Sunday trying to guess from their furtive looks who’s drawn your name.
Have a great Christmas, all you comics people!
Well done everyone who braved the weather bomb to come out to Boda last night! We were rewarded with Swedish mulled wine and a good collection of (kind of) festive zines.
Zyzanna wins the prize for the fastest ever zine construction (this was made at the meet up table in about a minute!):
Aimee Lockwood (I was too lazy to do any folding this month):
Ell J Walker:
Significantly upping the production values of the zine swap was Andy P, who brought us all a set of twelve cards from The Ghost Station Chronicles! Not on the Smörgåsbord topic of course, but we’ll let him off with it this time because we do love getting beautiful presents like this:
Next month’s topic is: TOTEM. We’ll be meeting at the usual time and place – Boda Bar, 7pm, second Tuesday of the month. Hope to see you all then!
Today we’re featuring a second local kickstarter project – a comic and animation project called Scarecrows. The brainchild of local artist Berin Tuzlic, the comic is a fantasy evocation of childhood set in a dystopian wasteland. With a Tim Burtonesque style and evocative prose, it looks like it’s going to be a really wonderful book for the whole family to enjoy.
You can read a 22 page preview of the story here, and help fund the book’s production here. Best of all, one of the rewards is your very own patchwork scarecrow doll!
